What is the Renaissance?
The Renaissance was a period in European history between the Middle Ages and the Modern Age.
It started in the 15th century as a cultural movement in Italy and later spread to the rest of Europe along the 16th century.
The focus of interest was on the study of science, art, human body, politics and philosophy, architecture and literature.
They got lots of ideas from Ancient Greece (For example in buildings and sculptures) and also they developed the idea of the humanism (interest on the human).

What happened before, during and after Renaissance?
Before the Renaissance there was the Middle Ages, have a look at the video to learn about it!
The Middle Ages is considered one of the darkest periods in history. Around 200 million people died in the whole world victim of the Black Plague. (Video 1) (Video 2)
During renaissance lots of good things happened, it was a very inspiring period:
Science improved a lot!
Nicolaus Copernicus discovered that the Earth is not the in the middle of the Solar System, it's the Sun!
The Scientific Method was developed.
Discoveries and inventions:
Christopher Columbus arrived to America!
The development of the printing press made music more accessible to people.
And after Renaissance another cultural movement came: The Baroque.
Leonardo da Vinci
Leonardo da Vinci or simply Leonardo, was born in 1452 and died 1519.
He was an Italian Renaissance polymath whose areas of interest included invention, painting, sculpting, architecture, science, music, mathematics, engineering, literature, anatomy, geology, astronomy, botany, writing, history, and cartography.

Michelangelo Buonarroti
Michelangelo Bounarroti was born in 1475 and died in 1564.
He was an Italian sculptor, painter, architect, and poet of the Renaissance born in Florence.

Raffaello Sanzio
Raffaello Sanzio known as Raphael was born in 1483 and died in 1520.
He was an Italian painter and architect of the Renaissance.
